We’re at the point of the season that we kinda know who players are. At least we think we do. Are they performing up to expectations or are the struggling to live up to the hopes placed on their shoulders? That said, do we really “know” who players are? Is it possible that the guy that started out hot has seen his performance cave of late? Perhaps that slow starter, whose overall numbers are still lacking, has actually performed pretty darn well of late? Let’s investigate how these players have performed of late and see if they meet your expectations for the players.

Manny Machado has been out of control the last two weeks: .442-6-16-14, just slightly ahead of the surging Peter Alonso (.388-6-14-15) which is just behind Charlie Blackmon (.419-7-17-15).
Garrett Cooper is hitting .436 with a 1.181 OPS for the Marlins. Hate that 0.17 BB/K rate though and the laughable .600 BABIP.
Ian Desmond has a lower body thing going, but those that bailed on the veteran have felt the past of late as he’s gone .439-3-10-15 his last 11 games. He’s not running anymore, but the bat is white-hot.
Josh Donaldson has seven homers his last 13 while sporting a .782 SLG.
Bryan Reynolds has an absurd .515 the last two weeks leading to a .474 average and 10 RBI. He’s also sporting an impressive 1.00 BB/K in that time. He’s been tremendous hitting .362 overall, but realize that the .443 BABIP he currently has, even in the absolute best-case scenario, is dropping .050 points, and likely much more.
Carlos Santana has a .319/.458/.681 slash line with five homers and 14 RBI. We keep waiting for the batting average to dip, but we’ve seen no clear-cut data at the moment to suggest it will – other than a decade of data of course.
Fernando Tatis returned from injury with a flurry. Over his last 12 he’s scored a remarkable 15 runs with a homer, two steals, and a .404 OBP.
Gleyber Torres has more walks than strikeouts, and he’s gone deep with four homers, 13 RBI/Runs the last 12.
Kolten Wong had an amazing 2.50 BB/K ratio the last two weeks, just ahead of Xander Bogarts (2.17), Tony Wolters (2.00) and Jose Ramirez (2.00). Speaking of Ramirez, he has a homer, two steals, nine RBI and nine runs scored the last 13 games with a solid .351 OBP. Finally showing some sight.

Kole Calhoun was rolling… until he wasn’t. Over his last 12 games he has but two RBI, is hitting .178 and has a poor .622 OPS. He’s nothing more than a fifth outfielder in mixed leagues.
Asdrubal Cabrera is having issues with the league, and with pitchers. He’s gone ice cold with a .125/.192/.208 slash line.Orlando Arcia has a .178 OBP over 12 games. That’s not easy to do.
Alex Gordon, usable fantasy piece, is dead. The last 12 games he has no homers, four RBI, has hit .170 and owns a .505 OPS.
Didi Gregorius has started pretty slowly. The last 11 outings he’s hit .222 with a .255 OBP and a .244 SLG. Yes, a higher OBP than SLG. He has just one RBI in that time as well.
Austin Meadows has stopped hitting. Over his last 12 games he has one runs scored, a .156 average and a .208 OBP.
Renato Nunez is just about as streaky as any player in the world of baseball. Over the last 12 games he doesn’t have a homer, has three RBI, two runs scored and a .190 batting average. So, goes it with the Orioles’ slugger.
J.T. Realmuto has gone 11 games without an RBI. He’s also looked terrible overall with a .171/.237/.286 line. This isn’t the type of production anyone was expecting when they made Realmuto the top catcher off the board this season.
Miguel Sano cannot get on track. The last 11 includes three homers, but those are his only three runs scored, he’s hitting .150 and he has a mere .244 OBP.
Eugenio Suarez will be fine, but it’s been ugly of late. Over his last 12 games he’s driven in four and scored five times. That’s not the worst of it. Suarez has hit a mere .149 with a .522 OPS as he’s in a deep funk.

No one talks about Todd Frazier, and I get it, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been producing. Not only does he have seven homers, but he is rocking a .319/.429/.585 slash line with a .426 wOBA.
Freddie Freeman is downright amazing, season after season. He has 23 runs his last 26 games while posting a 1.043 OPS. The most impressive number though might be the 29 RBI, the most in the game.
Yasmani Grandal has gone deep eight times with 15 RBI and he’s scored 19 runs in 24 games thanks to a .398 OBP.
Ramon Laureano has been a very effective offensive performer of late. Over his last 27 games he’s produced a huge seven homers, five steals, and 21 runs scored. He’s also rocking a .899 OPS as one of the better power/speed guys going.
D.J. LeMahieu has been an absolute monster for the Yankees through all their injuries. Not only does he have a current 10-game hitting streak, but his last 26 games he’s, get this, scored 25 times and driven in 25 runs. He’s also hit six homers leading to a .969 OPS.
Mallex Smith has a massive 13 steals his last 27 games. He’s also gone deep three times, has scored 21 times, has driven in 17 and is batting .308 with a .372 OBP. Currently, he’s hitting better than he did last season. Hopefully you held/added him when he was sent to the minors. He’s been amazing since.
Jorge Soler has 10 homers, tied for the second most. He also has 21 RBI and 17 runs scored in 28 games with a .895 OPS. A solid power source at the moment without average or speed.

Tim Anderson has hit .267 with a .275 OBP the last 23 games. He doesn’t have a single walk on his way to a terrible .719 OPS.
Harrison Bader has seven RBI, nine runs scored his last 26 games. That’s bad enough. When you toss in the .141 batting average and .556 OPS you’ve got a massive drain.
Lorenzo Cain has no homers while batting .247 with a .313 OBP and .281 SLG. He’s simply not performing well with the bat in his hands. Turns out, his thumb has been an issue.
The star isn’t shining on Michael Chavis like it was a month ago. The last month he’s hit .241 with a .299 OBP and a .343 SLG leading to a .642 OPS.
Paul DeJong, predictably, has slowed. The last 25 he’s hit five homers with two steals, and that plays, but the .196/.275/.371 line speaks more directly to his struggles.
Alex Gordon has a .618 OPS over 26 outings.
Adalberto Mondesi is hurt, and over his last 21 games he has one homer, three RBI, a .218 average and a .586 OPS. Ugh.
Some OPS marks: Cesar Hernandez .621, Wil Myers .630, Adam Jones .651, J.T. Realmuto .661, Matt Carpenter .677.
Stephen Piscotty has a .186/.220/.349 line over 22 games.
Jean Segura has, surprisingly, fallen totally flat. Over his last 26 outings he’s hit .204 with a .252 OBP and just nine runs scored. He’s a much better player than that.
Justin Turner is hitting .330 which is great, but in 25 games he has just one homer and seven RBI.
