Prospect Watch 2019: Week 13

June 18, 2019 by RayFlowers

Each week we will try to give a quick update on each of the top-40 minor leaguers that could help out in the fantasy game in 2019. Of course, there is an element of uncertainty with all of this as we never quite know when a team will decide to call up a youngster or if that role will be of the full-time variety. We will do our best each week to give you a quick reference guide as to where the elite youngsters are, and if they are performing well enough to bring their game to the Major League level. And yes, there are injuries in the minor leagues as well (if you thought injuries were merely limited to the big-league level). Teams are just gonna call up young players if they deserve to get a shot in the big leagues anymore, with seemingly no interest in the future and contract concerns. Teams are playing to win right now, and we applaud it.

2019 Prospect Report TEAM POS LEVEL COMMENT
1 Jesus Luzardo OAK SP AAA He will make his next start Saturday at AAA. He could make his debut before the All-Star Game.
2 Luis Urias SD 2B/SS AAA Slumping a bit at .233 with 10 Ks the last 10 outing. Watch the Padres call him up now.
3 Kyle Tucker HOU OF AAA Last 10: .395-3-11-11-4. Up to 23/17 with a 1.004 OPS on the year.
4 Dylan Cease CWS SP AAA That’s eight ERs over his last 5.2 innings with six walks. Not sharp at the moment.
5 Brendan McKay TB SP AAA His last 10 outings: 0.85 ERA, 5.1 H/9, 11.0 K/9 and 7.2 K/BB.
6 Ryan Mountcastle BAL 3B AAA 14 punchouts and .220 average the last 41 at-bats. Just nine walks in 59 games is concerning.
7 Bo Bichette TOR SS AAA Has nine hits last six games to push his slash line up to .282/.374/.462.
8 Zack Collins CWS C AAA He can’t be called up to ride the pine. Same time, he’s not taking over from James McCann, so DH?
9 Jorge Mateo OAK 2B AAA 10 runs the last nine with a .304 AVG. Just a mere 65 percent success rate on steals (15/23).
10 Luis Robert CWS OF AA Slump has included 4-straight hitless and .158 mark his last 38 at-bats to drop AVG to .353.
11 Zack Gallen MIA SP AAA Biding his time on farm. Lefties have hit .121, righties .174.
12 Logan Allen SD SP AAA He will make his big league debut Tuesday. For more, click on his name.
13 Matt Manning DET SP AA Last five outings: seven ERs. Has a 0.87 WHIP in day games, 1.01 in night outings.
14 Bobby Bradley CLE 1B AAA Can mash with 22 HRs and .627 SLG. Also has 87 punchouts in just 63 games.
15 Monte Harrison FLA OF AAA Back in action, and already has a steal in two games to push him to 20 on the year.
16 Nick Madrigal CWS 2B AA Average is up to .295 as he’s hit .417 with 15 hits the last 10.
17 Yusniel Diaz BAL OF AA Named Eastern Lg. P.O.T.W after going .364-3-12-7 with a .864 SLG. It’s about time.
18 Austin Hays BAL OF AAA Hitting .224 in 31 games and .225 the last 10. Just not getting it done.
19 Yonathan Daza COL OF AAA Simply tearing it up hitting .379 in 52 games and an amazing .422 the last 10.
20 Carter Kieboom WAS SS AAA In June he’s hit a mere .217 with a .393 SLG. Still has a .373 OBP though.
21 Devin Smeltzer MIN SP AAA In two outings since demotion he has one walks and 17 Ks over 10.2 frames.
22 A.J. Puk OAK SP A He’s allowed a run in both two inning outing, though 7-of-12 outs are by punchout.
23 Nick Gordon  MIN SS AAA He has a .792 OPS with a 0.29 BB/K. There’s still not much to love with the offensive game.
24 Anthony Alford TOR OF AAA Blazing of late. The last 10: .389-1-6-5-6. He can run, but contact is an issue.
25 Anthony Kay NYM SP AAA A 2.05 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, .179 BAA and 76 punchouts in 70.1 innings.
26 Adbert Alzolay CHC SP AAA Sounds like a call up is possible. He has a 1.08 WHIP and 49 Ks in 36 IP.
27 Sixto Sanchez FLA SP AA One BB in 4-straight. Last five all at least 5.0 IP. Could get MLB hitters out right now.
28 Nate Pearson TOR SP AA He hasn’t cleared 5.0 IP in 14 outings. No walks the last three, but only nine innings pitched. 0.78 WHIP on year.
29 Enyel De Los Santos PHI SP AAA Four ER last four outings. Could get a shot with unlevel in Phils’ rotation. Also 44 Ks in 35.3 innings.
30 Nate Lowe TB 1B AAA The offensive uptick the last 10 is obvious: .323-2-9-7 with 10 walks.
31 Ian Anderson  ATL SP AA At least 7 Ks in 5-straight. Just 3 ERs the last three outings to drop ERA to 2.85.
32 Casey Mize DET SP AA He has shoulder inflammation and the team is going to be very cautious with him in the short-term.
33 Forrest Whitley HOU SP AAA Still working his way back from shoulder woes. Might not see him at all in bigs this year.
34 Jared Walsh LAA 1B AAA Hitting .350 with four homers and 13 runs last 10. Has a .301/.403/.564 slash line on year.
35 Jake Fraley SEA OF AA All the vets are getting dealt. Fraley has a .922 OPS with 11 HRs and 16 SBs.
36 Sean Murphy OAK C AAA Finally getting close to a return to game action. We think. Could see him behind the dish in second half.
37 Joe Palumbo TEX SP AAA 4 outings in a row less than 5 IP, even though allowed just four ER in total.
38 Alex Kiriloff MIN OF AA Hitting .351 the last 10. Only a mere .402 SLG as he’s not driving the ball yet.
39 Dennis Santana LAD SP AAA 2 ERs or less in 3-of-4 (8 ERs in the other). Has a 1.64 WHIP in 10 disappointing outings.
40 Yewnnsy Diaz TOR SP AA The 1.18 WHIP is nice, but the 2.047 K/BB and 58 Ks in 74.2 innings leave a bit to be desired.
