Ray’s Ramblings: The Top-50, A Look Back

June 7, 2019 by RayFlowers

We’re never wrong, are we?

Actually, we are always wrong.

As I write about every year, and did yet against this season in Does the First Round Matter?, I point out that all the time we spend worry about which top pick to take is actually a waste of time. Looking back at the last 15-years, we have a success rate of about a third. That means, over the last 15-years, only one out of three players in the top-15 selections on draft day end the year as a top-15 performer. Its just how it is.

So, who has failed in the top-15 to this point of the season?

You know me by now, and you probably realize I’m a bit of an overachiever, so I’m not going to just look back at the top-15 players, I’m going to take a look at how the top-50 players drafted this season have performed to date.

The ADP numbers listed below, #1 through #50, are taken from the National Fantasy Baseball Championship. The dates surveyed were March 1st through April 1st, 2019. The ADP takes into account 543 drafts.

GREEN: SUCCEEDING (21 players)
WHITE: SO-SO EFFORT (12 players)
RED: KINDA FAILING (17 players)
