Week 4: Doing the Splits

April 19, 2019 by RayFlowers

We don’t have a ton of data yet, despite what some folks are trying to lead you to believe, but after three weeks it’s ok to check in on some numbers that aren’t always at the forefront of in-depth analysis. We will take a look at some of the splits that can be used to set your lineup on a daily basis.

*Note – it is still very early, so realize that what you see below is based upon such a small sample size that nothing should be taken as being set in stone and that these are merely early season trends.

Bellinger has been bananas.

Jorge Polanco doesn’t get much press, and his overall game is moderate, but he’s been en fuego thus far.

Shin-Soo Choo has a 1.138 OPS. Not bad for an aging veteran.

Kolten Wong/Jason Heyward being on the list? I’m shocked too.

Daniel Descalso is off to one heck of a start.

Paul DeJong has certainly enjoyed the home cooking.

Joc Pederson has a nearly 1.000 SLG. Not OPS, but SLG.

Adam Frazier has been the bee’s knees at home in the early going. Teammate Josh Bell hasn’t been half bad either.

Alex Gordon seems rejuvenated in the early going.

Lucas Giolito is on the DL, but he’s actually pitched passably in at least this instance, despite what his ERA suggests.

Jack Flaherty has been up and down, but he’s been good with men on base.

Jakob Junis has a massive K/9 rate. That’s just not who he is.

Carlos Rodon is just behind Junis in the K.9 rate, thought they both lag behind Felipe Vazquez.

Blake Snell has bene a monster with a 0.36 WHIP.

Matthew Boyd and Mike Clevinger have zero’s in the ERA column.

Tyson Ross, surprisingly, has the walk rate under control.

Speaking of walks, Merrill Kelly hasn’t allowed one.

Sonny Gray needs health, but he’s off to a solid start against lefties.

Chris Archer has brought the pain to lefties with a higher than 14 K/9 rate
