NFBC MAIN EVENT – THE RULES
The Main Event will 15-team mixed leagues.
The NFBC regular season will extend from the first game of the MLB regular season through the final game of the regular season (including one or more season-ending MLB tie-breaker games if needed). Teams will compete for accumulative stats in five offensive and five pitching categories, with each category weighted equally. Here are the categories.
Hitters: AVG, HR, RBI, RUNS, SB
Pitchers: WINS, ERA, WHIP, STRIKEOUTS, SAVES
As an obvious shorthand, the league is a 15-team mixed league that uses 5×5 scoring. Here is the actual roster construction, and it’s right in-line with the industry standard.
HITTERS (14): 2C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, 5 OF, UT
PITCHERS (9): Any combination of starters and relievers you desire.
BENCH (7): Anything you want can be kept on your bench. There is no DL.
There is a 1,000 innings pitched minimum requirement for all Main Event leagues, but no minimum requirement for the number of starting pitchers or relief pitchers on each roster. Should any team not reach the required limit of 1,000 innings pitched by the end of the season, the rankings will be altered to show that team getting 1 point in both ERA and WHIP. No other teams will switch positions in the standings, but the team that didn’t reach the minimum IP will automatically earn one point in ERA and WHIP.
Players need to have appeared at 20 games at a position in 2018 to qualify there in 2019. The requirement is 10 games at a new position in-season to pick up a new qualification.
The weekly deadline for setting your NFBC starting lineup is on Monday’s with the following exceptions:
(1) Week 1, the deadline is before each game on Thursday, March 28th.
(2) Week 16, (All Star break week), the deadline is before each players’ first game on Thursday, July 11, or Friday, July 12.
In the NFBC, you don’t have to lock in your entire starting lineup on Mondays if you have players who don’t play their first game of the week until Tuesday. You are allowed to lock in your starters on Monday five minutes before their scheduled games that day and also 5 minutes before their games on Tuesdays if that is their first game of the week. NFBC team owners are also allowed to switch out any hitter (or hitters) from their starting lineup and replace him with a hitter from their reserve roster on Fridays. Pitchers will not be allowed to be moved out of your starting lineup at any time during the season; what is set on Monday remains for the remainder of the week for all pitchers.
There is no trading in the NFBC.
